Dream cars coming back to Cortina on the last weekend of August:
on August 28, 29 and 30 Cortina Fabolous Race takes place, the most extravagant challenge of this summer.
Participants – aboard vintage cars or gleaming luxury car – will take the breathtaking roads around Cortina following the footsteps of Inspector Clouseaux: this is a tribute – for this first edition of the race – to The Pink Panther film, shot in 1963 in the interior of Cristallo Hotel Spa & Golf, the starting point of a real adventure. The participants will receive a road book upon arrival, on Friday, August 28.
Before that day – no clue.
Cortina d’Ampezzo, July 29, 2015 the appointment, which is really a must for all the fans of Cortina and automobiles, is scheduled for August 28, 29 and 30, when the first edition of Cortina Fabolous Race will get underway. For the occasion, classic and luxury cars, will pass the streets of Cortina, the place where the culture of beauty and the beauty of nature come together.
The event is sponsored by Cortina Car Club, the club which was born in the shadow of Tofane to merge two common passions: cars and the beautiful resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The starting point of the weekend is Cristallo Hotel Spa & Golf, the historic home of the Club House and Cortina Car Club. From here the non-competitive tour participants, divided into crews of two people and more, will start the engines of their vintage and luxury cars, and will depart for the discovery of the Queen of the Dolomites and its surroundings. To underline the festive and playful aspect of the event their task will be to solve the mystery of the Pink Panther, passing through skill tests and solving puzzles: a challenge full of twists that will keep everyone in suspense until the last moment. Enough to say that no clue will be given before Friday, 28th August, in Cortina d’Ampezzo. At the check-in point the crews will be given a casket with directions to find the treasure: to orientate themselves they will have a special road book which day by day will reveal the challenges, adventures and discoveries.
It is in short a non-race and first of all a game that aims to bring the dream cars back in Cortina on the last weekend of summer. An original event to discover and a new format for Cortina which involves vintage and luxury cars cars together with the wonders of places around the Queen of the Dolomites. A weekend full of “slow drive”, discovery of a unique territory, slow driving but high rate of fun.
A journey in the footsteps of the legendary Pink Panther -which was being shot right at Cristallo in 1963 by Blake Edwards and brought David Niven, Peter Sellers, Capucine and Claudia Cardinale in Cortina -exploring the delightful places around the Queen of the Dolomites and following the tracks of Inspector Cluseaux.
